ONLINE VIDEO: Teens, Screens & Post Quarantine - Guest Expert Dr. Peter Pramataris
Dr. Peter Pramataris is a leading expert on understanding and managing children’s screen usage issues. In this online video, Dr. Pramataris, in conversation with Leslie, addresses critical issues related to screen usage.
Many parents of children with ADHD struggle to manage their kid's technology usage. And with good reason. Today's teens spend more time on their devices than ever before. Video games and social media draw them in as sources of entertainment; mobile phone applications are more sophisticated. Even once-traditional aspects of school have been pushed online due to the pandemic. In this video, Dr. Peter Pramataris, a child and adolescent neuropsychologist, and the former Director of the Center for Attention and Learning at Northwell Health/Lenox Hill Hospital, discusses the latest research with regards to screen use and how it affects the developing mind. He also provides parents much needed practical tips and techniques to help instill age-appropriate and healthier screen-use behaviors at home.
Topics in this one-hour video include:
- A first-hand look into how screen technologies are used by today's teens.
- How the impact of devices directly affects executive functioning, social development, and creativity.
- How to recognize when your child's screen use is extreme and unhealthy.
- What psychology can teach us about strategies for managing technology at home.
- Practical tips and techniques for healthier screen-usage behaviors at home.
